New Beginnings

Sorry for the week long absence but it has been one hectic and crazy week! On Saturday I finally moved to Uni and since then I have just been so caught up in my new life that I haven’t had the time to properly sit down and just write. Currently I'm sat in my kitchen (which I share with my four other flatmates) drinking a large cappuccino from the coffee shop on campus that sells Starbucks drinks which is either a godsend or the devil - it's only a 2 minute walk from my flat...

Since Saturday my life feels like it has been on a cycle. I wake up late morning, either explore London or go to a uni event - an induction or freshers fair etc - have a two hour nap, attempt to cook some dinner (which has surprisingly gone well so far) then start the night early and continue until the early morning by going out to the campus bar/club. It’s been busy, but busy doing nothing. On Monday my flatmates and I went to the Ministry of Sound nightclub for a special freshers event which involved a lot of dancing and a lot of talking to random people. That’s my favourite thing about freshers week/ uni so far – how everyone will talk to anyone and making friends is so quick and easy. Today we are off to the freshers fair and a poster sale before going to a quick English lecture. I have a vision that the freshers fair will be like the scene in Pitch Perfect where Fat Amy sits not the floor doing the 'mermaid' however then I think, maybe it won't be, although I did see somewhere that they have free cakes...

This outfit is some of my favourite pieces this Autumn. This skirt is from Topshop and is basically a standard body con skirt but the scalloped details on the bottom just add something a little extra, the material is also quite thick so can either be dressed down or dressed up for a night out - I thought it would be perfect for Uni! This top is also one of my favourite things to throw on at the moment. It is just a basic t-shirt but I lack everyday clothes and this bright colour and scalloped details make it the perfect top to look like I've actually made a bit of effort when, lets be honest, I really haven't! 

Now Watching // My Flatmate and I started One Tree Hill the other day, we're only two episodes in but I can tell I'm going to love it!

Sleeveless

Dress - Topshop. Jacket - New Look. Shoes - New Look.

I don't know why I'm obsessed with khaki at the moment. For the past two years or so I've barely worn any colour, it got to the point where I was scared to reach out of my comfort zone and wear something that wasn't monochrome, which is a bit silly really. I mean I have my style, and I know what that is, but it is silly to restrict myself on clothes because I was weirdly nervous. However this Autumn I have branched out a bit and have added some khaki into my wardrobe, and I love it. Its such a muted colour that doesn't scream too loud but is perfect to add a contrast to black. When I was in the fashion cupboard at my work experience I can't even remember how many gilets and sleeveless jackets I saw, so many! They were so popular and I could see the appeal for a sleeveless jacket to add extra warmth in this transitional period but not make you boil like a full on coat would. So I mixed these two new obsessions of mine together and found this jacket from New Look! It's just perfect, and layering it over this sleeveless high neck dress from Topshop works well in this unknown weather England seem to always have at this time of year! 

I'm just having a bit of an errands day today before going out to dinner later. I might actually go to the gym - which I haven't done in two weeks or so because of that horrid cold, but I think it finally might have started to budge! Hope your week is going well, only two more days until Friday!

New Americana

You know those mornings where you wake up and just feel completely rubbish? That was me this morning, not only did I wake up at the ghastly hour of 7, I got up and my head felt like it weighed a tonne. But, a morning in bed sorting out lots of different fun stuff for Uni was just the right medicine!

The past two days I’ve been doing work experience at a magazine and have just loved it. I spent yesterday sorting through the fashion cupboard, which was just a dream. Not only has it made me surer that I want to pursue journalism, it has made me so excited to go shopping for Autumnal clothes! The plum colours, the range of denims, the boho trend – I cannot wait to get updating my wardrobe going shopping this weekend.

My friend Emily did this henna last week, and I’ve fallen in love with it. It’s just such a lovely addition to jewellery and fancies up an everyday outfit. Anyway I'm going to dinner with some of my friends from dancing tonight as a last goodbye - which I'm looking forward to, but my best friend Emily leaves for college on Sunday which is quite scary. Hope you all have a good start to your weekend!

Wildest Dreams

One thing I thought about when I got back to blogging after my break was how I needed to re-insert the ‘country girl’ vibe, and what’s a better way to do that than stand by a windmill?

I drive past this windmill most days as it’s only 5 minutes away from my house, and although I remember walking to it on a year 3 School trip, I’ve never really looked at it. But a few months ago I was driving home late from school and realised the sun was a bright ball of red and that it was setting perfectly behind the windmill. So instantly I thought, being the 21^st teenager that I am, I must take a photo. So I pulled over to take a picture and took one crappy photo before my phone died. Now although I didn’t get my perfect instagram shot, I just stood there isolated from the world staring at this fiery ball of red setting over a windmill. It shows that a small break from technology can help you realise the beauties of the world.

This dress is one of my favourite new pieces this summer. It’s from Topshop and is just a perfect white summery dress with beautiful flowery details around the bust. A simple white dress is one of my favourite things to wear, you can wear it so many different ways that you can never get bored of. I chose to edge it up a bit wearing my new choker set (which I’m still not too sure of) my leather jacket (trying to be Emma Swan from Once Upon a Time…) and my standard heeled ankle boots. This dress is definitely going to be worn and re-worn many times over the summer.

All Over Again

Excuse my weird posing and the multiple creases in my top, it appears that when I don't shoot outfit photo's in a while I lose the ability to shoot any nice photos. But, here's an outfit! I know it's been a long time coming but outfit posts are so difficult to keep on top of and I've become very self critical in myself and my blog posts recently that I want everything to be the best it can be. I think this happens most of the time on study leave, I spend most of my days with no make-up on, in trackies and baggy t-shirts that even when I do get dressed, the outfit normally isn't blog worthy! But on Tuesday I went on a little trip to Ikea with my mum and took advantage of the sunny-ish weather to wear two of my new summer pieces. I am obsessed with any white clothes at the moment and this top is very high on my favourite lists. I haven't been too sure what to pair this A-line denim skirt with but it pairs well with this floaty crop top. Then I dug out my platforms from last summer to complete this monochrome look. Although I was a little too optimistic and had to wear a knit cardigan with it to Ikea!

Yesterday was such a good day, I had day one of All England Regional Finals which is the semi-finals of a big dance competition that we have been working towards the past two years. And two of our groups came 1st and qualified for the finals in London! So it was a day filled with anticipation and a lot of nerves but ended in complete happiness!

Trouble is as Trouble Does

Oh, school! It's already taking up all my time and energy - and I've only been back two days! Today was horrible, it started with a timed History essay, after lunch an English timed essay and then I've been stuck in the library for two hours before a history lecture after school, not fun! But I'm actually in a pretty good mood, I've just been given the print edition of INK, and I could not be more excited. It's so exciting to see the whole year of work come together in an actual, physical, (and professional!) magazine. Being the editor, I almost feel like it's my little baby that has been growing this year and now it's finally all grown up - I don't know. It sounds odd but I just feel an overwhelming pride holding my magazine - lets hope its not the first of magazine I'm editor of that I get to hold!

A fairly simple outfit today, taken in my back lounge! It's been all stripped and redecorated so after the suggestion from Madeleine to use it as a background I went ahead and shot this outfit before I went out for dinner last week. I bought this floaty white crop top from Forever 21 and I love it, It has the perfect amount of 'float' (If that's even a word?) and the crochet at the top is a cute little touch. The Kimono adds to the bohemian relaxed type vibe of the outfit. It's just a simple one but actually something I really loved wearing, I felt all girly and cute!

We never go out of Style

One thing that people often say when asked who their style icon is, is their mum. I never really thought of my mum as a 'style icon' or anything, she just always wore nice clothes and that was that. But recently, with a specific style coming back around I've realised that in reality my mum and I actually have a very similar style,  meaning that some time in my life, she must have inspired me! Over Christmas one of my aunts said jokingly that all my mum wears is black - and I always joke around with my friends how all we wear is black (a little bit of white!) Alos last November when my mum and I went out we both were wearing grey clothes with some kind of roll-neck, and since we both have short blonde hair ( much to my dad's dismay) we look even more alike! 
I've even gone as far in this outfit as wearing her clothes! This roll-neck is hers, I've been lusting after one for ages and hadn't managed to buy one and then when I bought this A-line black denim skirt from Topshop the other week, I knew a fitted grey roll-neck top would be perfect with it. My mum always wears roll-necks under pinafores or chunky knit roll-neck jumpers with jeans - I remember when I was little not liking them because I felt like they were choking me! But after all these years, I suppose she has inspired me - Thanks Mum! (Or Mummy as even though I'm an 18 year-old, I'll never not call her mummy...)
Anyway, I better go and start school for today, I've had two coffee's before it was even 8 o'clock, so I'm sure I'll be crashing in a few hours, Hope you week is going well!

Shadow

This outfit is typically all my christmas presents put together! My Jeans, jumper and bag were all given to me for Christmas and fit together to make the perfect relaxed outfit. My parents got me this grey knitted crop jumper from Aeropostale when they were in Florida a couple of weeks before christmas (jealous doesn't even begin to cover it) and it fits perfectly, it is so soft and the arms are really long that it is just very snug! Then these jeans are the classic high waisted joni jeans from Topshop that I cannot seem to get enough of! I haven't had a pair of normal blue jeans in quite a few years so it's a bit of a change but I feel like the rips bring it back to my style! This bag is perfection from H&M, I always see people with larger solid handbags and have fancied one for a while so when I opened this up from Madeleine and Matthew I was delighted!

This week has been a bit mismatched with exams at schools, a uni visit and a lot of photography work to do but I'm starting off the weekend early by being tucked up in bed on a Friday afternoon watching Pretty Little Liars,writing an article for my school magazine,  and drinking coffee - pure bliss!
