Wildest Dreams

Dress - Topshop. Jacket - Craft. Necklaces - Miss Selfridge. Boots - New Look.

One thing I thought about when I got back to blogging after my break was how I needed to re-insert the ‘country girl’ vibe, and what’s a better way to do that than stand by a windmill?
I drive past this windmill most days as it’s only 5 minutes away from my house, and although I remember walking to it on a year 3 School trip, I’ve never really looked at it. But a few months ago I was driving home late from school and realised the sun was a bright ball of red and that it was setting perfectly behind the windmill. So instantly I thought, being the 21st teenager that I am, I must take a photo. So I pulled over to take a picture and took one crappy photo before my phone died. Now although I didn’t get my perfect instagram shot, I just stood there isolated from the world staring at this fiery ball of red setting over a windmill. It shows that a small break from technology can help you realise the beauties of the world.
This dress is one of my favourite new pieces this summer. It’s from Topshop and is just a perfect white summery dress with beautiful flowery details around the bust. A simple white dress is one of my favourite things to wear, you can wear it so many different ways that you can never get bored of. I chose to edge it up a bit wearing my new choker set (which I’m still not too sure of) my leather jacket (trying to be Emma Swan from Once Upon a Time…) and my standard heeled ankle boots. This dress is definitely going to be worn and re-worn many times over the summer.

I’m having another lovely day in London today, and might even vlog it! Hope the start of your week is going well, make sure you follow me on twitter and instagram whilst you there!

Getting back to normal

So, I haven’t written in a while, and partly that’s been because my life has been so hectic and partly its because I have lost motivation/ confidence in this blog.

My life the past month or so has been extremely busy and you will have seen on my instagram. I’ve been finishing off exams (thank god their over – now for the long wait until August 13th), went on a girls holiday to Ayia Napa, had a lot of ‘end of school’ celebrations like Vale and Final Fling (Prom and a speech day/graduation type thing) then have been preparing for my dance show which happened this past weekend. I’ve been wanting to live life in the present and not worry about my blog, which is weird, I shouldn’t worry about my blog, I should be excited to write about it. But, I couldn’t really put it into words all the different emotions I felt about leaving school and dancing and in a way didn’t (and still don’t) want to come to terms with it. I am excited to go to Uni, but I am also terrified for everything to change.

For some reason in my head  I created a mental block against my blog. I would sit down to write a post and think ‘Why are you doing this?’ ‘There are so many other people who write better than you’ and ‘Your blog design looks like a child has done it.’ Therefore I just closed the window and opened Netflix to distract myself. Even with the encouragement with my friend Luke to collaborate to create a better youtube channel, I lacked motivation, and I still do.

But, my blog is my baby. I’ve nearly been running one for 4 years and I can’t give up now. It’s an odd period in my life, everything is ending but I know new beginnings are around the corner, and I want to document that and be able to look back at exactly what was going on in my life and treasure the inbetween moments. So, I’m back, StyleStorey is back to normal (fingers crossed) and I’m seriously considering a blog redesign or even a move to wordpress, but we shall see. To symbolise the ending of multiple things to the beginning of new things these two photos are a sunset and a sunrise in Ayia Napa.

If any of you are still around, thank you for reading this and thank you sticking by me through a very bland blog break!

Living in the Present or Contemplating the Future?

My life at the moment revolves around exams, school and preparing for university...

The past few weeks I've realised that i have been dropping in the topics related with Uni into everyday conversation. Like the fact I cannot wait to decorate my room there, like the fact it will be weird going out with new people and not any of my school friends, like the fact that I will be somewhere completely different. I will leave school in 5 months time. That in itself is very freaky, school is something that is always a constant in everyone's children years. We attend it since we were so young that you cannot remember anything different in your life. I like routine, and I like the fact that I have a specific routine very week that I rarely shy away from. My friends at school know me as being the organised one who likes to plan ahead and know what we are doing. Uni won't be like that, Uni will be full of spontaneous conversations, a bunch of new people and a lot of 'going with the flow,' it will be fun and exciting and full of new things however the prospect of leaving this small village, my school and my dance school; all things which I've known forever, is very daunting. But it's very exciting at the same time. It is bittersweet.
In a way when I write this I realise that I need to focus on the present and put the future in the back of my mind. I need to enjoy this last five months of school (not matter how much stress they bring!) as, they are my last! I should just embrace the whole school atmosphere, embrace the vast array of people in my year, and embrace the opportunities I have to learn and grow at school. Right now I need to be doing my photography work but I had a sudden spurt of inspiration to write this post - I may or may not have just finished Girl Online by Zoella/ Siobhan Curham (awkward...) and been inspired by the blog and general fuzziness that the end brings!
Just to say, I think for the next few months I may have to turn this blog into a 'once a week' type thing, which does irritate me a bit but school comes first etc etc, I also am going to leave you with my favourite quotes/photo's I find from the week or in general life...

Now Reading // Girl Online - It was such a cute cheesy fun read!

18 Candles

Dress - American Eagle. Shoes - New Look.

Yesterday was perfect. I'm going to continue replaying every little detail of the day in my head forever. I spent my 18th birthday with everyone in the world that I love. My family, my family friends I've known since I was little, my friends from dancing, my friends from school and everyone in between. I felt so loved it was amazing and seeing everyone there together, I could not stop smiling!
Whilst searching for a New Years Eve outfit in late December I came across this dress in American Eagle and instantly knew it was perfect for my birthday. The swing style, the stripes and the price felt like it was made for me. I was already picturing my make-up - gold eyes, winged eyeliner and red lips! I'm sure this dress will be worn many many times.Anyway, even though I'm now officially an adult, that doesn't stop school from happening so as I type this in my Monday morning free, I hope you all have a fab week! I'm sure I will as I continue replaying yesterday over and over again.

Knee Socks

Jumper and Necklaces - Berksha. Dress - Topshop. Socks - Forever 21. Shoes - New Look. Hat - H&M.
Once again I feel like I owe a massive apology for not blogging once yet in October (Think it may actually be my longest period without blogging ever) But then I think, no I don't. Life has been so hectic, but so good. My last year of school is turning out better than ever, ignoring the piles and piles of work, stress about UCAS and life's random curve balls it throws into the mix, life's good. Plus, I passed my driving test on Tuesday so now have a certain element of freedom so I can get out of this village without relying on my mum which feels pretty great. I broke up for half term yesterday and the autumnal feels are in full swing; I'm spending my first day snuggled up in bed,  blogging, catching up on shows and ordering Rookie Yearbook 3. If I care to repeat myself again, Life's good.
It upsets me that this is my first Autumn outfit of the year but you know it's autumn when the knee-high socks come out, don't you? This is such a classic autumnal type of outfit for me and one I don't think I will ever get over. Throwing a jumper over a summer dress is the perfect transition from seasons and one that I think I'll be doing the rest of my life!
Right, well I better go and watch The Vampire Diaries then, will hopefully actually see you soon!

Instagram Lately #3

Sunday morning reading magazines and drinking coffee // An autumnal cosy outfit I wore last weekend to Leicester open day // Bryony and I before a party // Flashback to Chicago // My siblings and I before a family party // My outfit and a coffee early on a Saturday morning before going to Birmingham open day // A group of my friends before a party - surprisingly it wasn't black and white themed! // A selfie with my new top, hat and necklaces before Southampton open day // Flashback to Chicago.

A little montage of my life  through the lens from the last few weeks, hopefully you can see that apart from school I have been super busy with multiple university open days (lets not talk about it, bit of a stressful subject) multiple party's (I know, that social life I told you I had) ands drinking lots of coffee(It's just inevitable.) Therefore although I desperately want to apologise for my break as the guilt feels like it is literally eating me up inside I actually have an excuse for not posting - life!
It's just all caught up to me and I'm not going to lie, it is pretty darn fab at the moment. Being in the last year of school I feel like everyone in my year just has the feeling of 'hey, lets make the most of it' and be happy.' Not sure if that is just me, but apart from the work that I'm already struggling to keep up with, life is good.
This is the first weekend in a while when I'm not going to an open day so yesterday I had a work day and today I'm going shopping then to a dance competition. So hopefully the shop will bring me back load of inspirations of future posts and outfits so we won't have to have this horrid long break!

P.S. Oh, and I also failed my driving test this week, so that wasn't that great.

The End Where I Begin

Wearing: Top - H&M. Shorts - Topshop. Cardi - Boohoo.
I have been wearing these short non-stop this summer, and I'm really surprised they are only just making it on the blog. I got them way back in May on my personal shopping experience (see the video here - cheeky plug) and haven't really stopped wearing them since. They are such a simple piece but the lace and intricate detailing on them make them so much more. They are also super comfy, especially in hot weather - which I will be grateful for when I go to America! Yes, you heard it right, America! I'm going to Chicago and Florida during August and I can not explain how excited I am. To explore a new city, soak up the sun and obviously American shopping and food! I'm already thinking of outfit spots in Chicago, e.g. The Bean - which I just associate with The Vow and LOL. Then there are also the cool trains which feature heavily in Divergent and LOl. Ahhh how exciting! It's definitely my motivation for getting through this last week and a half of work!

Ink Magazine...

Currently :
  • Supposed to be doing my English coursework (I've written 453 words, that's a start, right?)
  • Supposed to be at dancing (not there to do my English coursework...I've also badly bruised my knee's from a dance competition this weekend)
  • Getting distracted reading Rookie...

However I thought I would do a quick post to let you know about my school magazine, Ink. I know this is a bit random but I have written an article about Youtube and how it's just fab and would love it if you could check it out. I'm really proud to be a part of this online magazine as it has just such a range of articles and information. So yeah, please read it? Thanks bud.

Being inspired...

Lately, I’m questioning the way my blog is going. I’ve expanded the amount and different types of blog I read. I used to always just read fashion blogs, where outfit posts were the main content. However I have recently starting reading more lifestyle and journal type posts,  as well as reading lots of different magazines from the usual circuit. From these I’ve been inspired to try and expand and improve my writing. It has also become a realisation that applying for Uni is just around the corner and looking at the different English courses there is on offer I’ve realised that it is extremely competitive and if I want to be the best I can be I need to start challenging myself by my writing.  For example, since the beginning of 2014 I have made it my aim to write in my journal every other day and I’ve started doing some more picture-y journaling inspired by some of my favourite quotes. And it has recently hit me that why don’t I share some of this on my blog? Why don’t I try and improve my writing skill through this platform I already have?

I’ve known for a while that my blog is still developing into something I want it to be but I think I need to improve my variety and explanation of posts. Of course I will still post lots and lots about fashion but I can only post so much, as I only have a limited amount of clothes! This  will take more time and effort and with everything else going on at the moment (Dance exams, school stress) the posts might be less regular. But I need to continue this balance that I had sorted out at the beginning of the year so please just bear with me. Stick around because hopefully this development will make my blog a whole lot better!

This was a very spontaneous post and I feel quite nervous posting it! I also don't have a clue how this photo is related to it but I couldn't have a picture-less post now, could I?

Now Reading - I'm actually getting quite involved in Jane Austen's Emma, I'm a 1/3 of the way through it!
