Seventies

Top - M&S. Skirt, Shoes - New Look.

It’s weird, my life has changed so much in the past three weeks that I don’t know how to write here anymore. I was in such the swing of blogging over the summer as I prepared to move but now I’ve got here and I’m having the time of my life but I’m struggling to write. It’s also time management, most of the time I’m reading, at cheer practice, or just sitting and chatting to my friends (most of the time with a little bit of alcohol…) And because we’ve got into the habit of just sitting in the kitchen chatting when none of us have much to do, that would be the time I would blog. However I don’t want to miss out, we’re still all getting to know each other and I just love spending time with them!
This outfit gives me a kind of seventies vibe, I think it’s the A-line skirt matched with the roll neck. I really want to start wearing my roll neck more but it has just been too warm! Which I know I shouldn’t say as in two weeks I’ll probably be complaining about how cold it is but I can’t wait to crack out my woolly jumpers and scarves! Hope your having a good week, hopefully I’ll get back into the swing of blogging soon!

New Beginnings

Top and Boots - New Look. Skirt - Topshop.

Sorry for the week long absence but it has been one hectic and crazy week! On Saturday I finally moved to Uni and since then I have just been so caught up in my new life that I haven’t had the time to properly sit down and just write. Currently I'm sat in my kitchen (which I share with my four other flatmates) drinking a large cappuccino from the coffee shop on campus that sells Starbucks drinks which is either a godsend or the devil - it's only a 2 minute walk from my flat...

Since Saturday my life feels like it has been on a cycle. I wake up late morning, either explore London or go to a uni event - an induction or freshers fair etc - have a two hour nap, attempt to cook some dinner (which has surprisingly gone well so far) then start the night early and continue until the early morning by going out to the campus bar/club. It’s been busy, but busy doing nothing. On Monday my flatmates and I went to the Ministry of Sound nightclub for a special freshers event which involved a lot of dancing and a lot of talking to random people. That’s my favourite thing about freshers week/ uni so far – how everyone will talk to anyone and making friends is so quick and easy. Today we are off to the freshers fair and a poster sale before going to a quick English lecture. I have a vision that the freshers fair will be like the scene in Pitch Perfect where Fat Amy sits not the floor doing the 'mermaid' however then I think, maybe it won't be, although I did see somewhere that they have free cakes...

This outfit is some of my favourite pieces this Autumn. This skirt is from Topshop and is basically a standard body con skirt but the scalloped details on the bottom just add something a little extra, the material is also quite thick so can either be dressed down or dressed up for a night out - I thought it would be perfect for Uni! This top is also one of my favourite things to throw on at the moment. It is just a basic t-shirt but I lack everyday clothes and this bright colour and scalloped details make it the perfect top to look like I've actually made a bit of effort when, lets be honest, I really haven't!

Now Watching // My Flatmate and I started One Tree Hill the other day, we're only two episodes in but I can tell I'm going to love it!

Sleeveless

Dress - Topshop. Jacket - New Look. Shoes - New Look.

I don't know why I'm obsessed with khaki at the moment. For the past two years or so I've barely worn any colour, it got to the point where I was scared to reach out of my comfort zone and wear something that wasn't monochrome, which is a bit silly really. I mean I have my style, and I know what that is, but it is silly to restrict myself on clothes because I was weirdly nervous. However this Autumn I have branched out a bit and have added some khaki into my wardrobe, and I love it. Its such a muted colour that doesn't scream too loud but is perfect to add a contrast to black. When I was in the fashion cupboard at my work experience I can't even remember how many gilets and sleeveless jackets I saw, so many! They were so popular and I could see the appeal for a sleeveless jacket to add extra warmth in this transitional period but not make you boil like a full on coat would. So I mixed these two new obsessions of mine together and found this jacket from New Look! It's just perfect, and layering it over this sleeveless high neck dress from Topshop works well in this unknown weather England seem to always have at this time of year!
I'm just having a bit of an errands day today before going out to dinner later. I might actually go to the gym - which I haven't done in two weeks or so because of that horrid cold, but I think it finally might have started to budge! Hope your week is going well, only two more days until Friday!

All England

Dress - New Look. Jacket - Craft. Necklace - Thomas Sabo. Bracelets - Primark.

I woke up this morning and within fifteen minutes I was already crying. This past week I've been representing my dance school at All England Finals at Hackney Empire, London. Which is a pretty big deal, we qualified as a school 28 dances through to the finals in May, which was a surprise in itself. I knew this week was going to be my last week at a dance festival, last week being a dancer at LHTS and last week on stage. Four years ago when my danced school qualified two contemporary groups into the finals (and came second!) I wasn't able to participate as I was still recovering from my surgery, but four years later I finally got my 'dancers' badge and I finally danced my heart out at All England. And, our contemporary group, came first! Meaning it is the best contemporary group in the country, which is crazy.
However last night ended on a sad note when it was officially my last time on stage. I cannot imagine my life without dancing and without seeing my friends (more like sisters) all the time and watching them dance. But as my post said a few months ago - I have learnt so much over the years from dancing and am sure it will all stay with me through life!  I know life will go on - the dance school will adapt to losing quite a few of their seniors and I am off (hopefully) to new bigger things and opportunities!
I'm off on holiday bright and early tomorrow morning - and unfortunately because of the busy last week have not been able to plan and schedule any posts, so hopefully I'll be able to update you all using my dads laptop - but if not make sure you follow me on instagram, as I'm sure I'll be updating that very often!

Trouble is as Trouble Does

Top - Forever 21. Kimono and Shoes - H&M. Jeans - Topshop.

Oh, school! It's already taking up all my time and energy - and I've only been back two days! Today was horrible, it started with a timed History essay, after lunch an English timed essay and then I've been stuck in the library for two hours before a history lecture after school, not fun! But I'm actually in a pretty good mood, I've just been given the print edition of INK, and I could not be more excited. It's so exciting to see the whole year of work come together in an actual, physical, (and professional!) magazine. Being the editor, I almost feel like it's my little baby that has been growing this year and now it's finally all grown up - I don't know. It sounds odd but I just feel an overwhelming pride holding my magazine - lets hope its not the first of magazine I'm editor of that I get to hold!

A fairly simple outfit today, taken in my back lounge! It's been all stripped and redecorated so after the suggestion from Madeleine to use it as a background I went ahead and shot this outfit before I went out for dinner last week. I bought this floaty white crop top from Forever 21 and I love it, It has the perfect amount of 'float' (If that's even a word?) and the crochet at the top is a cute little touch. The Kimono adds to the bohemian relaxed type vibe of the outfit. It's just a simple one but actually something I really loved wearing, I felt all girly and cute!

Now Reading // Connor Franta's book 'A Work in progress' popped through my door yesterday and I'm pretty excited to start reading it!

Got that red lip classic thing that you like

Dress - Missguided. Coat and Boots - New Look. Scarf - Zara.
My recent obsession with roll necks is a bit out of control, the last three days I've worn them and I'm planning on wearing another one today! I remember when I was little my mum quite often wore them and when ever I would I didn't like them, I felt like they were choking me but fast forward ten years and I can't get enough. However they do still remind me of my mum, I think I look really similar to her with this style, especially with my short blonde hair!
This is becoming my go-to outfit for any slightly more dressy occasion as it is so simple and comfy to wear but paired with my heeled boots from new look and my new coat, it works quite well to fit the 'smart-casual' look. I'm planning on wearing it tonight as I'm going to the West End to see The Scottsboro Boys with my friend Vicky and I cannot contain my excitement, I'm a sucker for a good musical!
My life the past couple of days has been recuperating from the past hectic term at school by watching a fair-share of The Vampire Diaries as well as rushing around the shopping centre looking for Christmas gifts - 8 days now!

Summer Shade

Top and Necklace - New Look. Shorts - Topshop. Kimono and Shoes - H&M.
I seem to love putting my hands in my hair...

I wore this outfit to a barbecue that I hosted for my friends just before I went away. I was stressing about what top to wear but luckily I found this peplum top in Madeleine's drawer which I think fits perfectly with this outfit. It's definitely one of my favourite outfits of the summer so far. I love the free flowing feel of this kimono and do wish I jumped on the bandwagon a bit earlier!  Also a lil' shout out to Vicky for being the photographer, obviously our time in Photography AS has paid off!
Right now I am sat inside jamming to 5SOS's album, taking a break from the sun and about to make a Mango shake with Madeleine. Chicago was a dream, my heart definitely belongs in a city but it has fully worn me out (You'll be getting the posts about that shortly when I've recovered!) but today is the first day of my week and a half long chill time in Florida. I've already spent hours in the pool and listened to a heap of new albums. Life is Good.

Back to Black

Wearing: Jumper - Forever 21. Necklace and Boots - New Look. Skirt and Tights - H&M.
I thought that once again I would tear myself away from watching television to write a post. As I am now on half term I have set myself a goal to catch up with Pretty Little Liars as I am only half way through season 3 now and I want to be able to watch it as it comes out soon. Although I do have a slight confession, It's freaky! I actually get kind of scared with some of the stuff, just the music and lighting the atmosphere is just always so tense! But it's addicting.
This jumper is going to be one of my staple pieces for these colder months. Not even because it's that thick - It's actually pretty thin and not that warm - but because of how simple it is. It's just a jumper but it will go with anything and can be very versatile. Also coming back with the weather is my love for patterned tights. They just transform an outfit from simple to exciting!
