The Carrie Diaries Style

However much I would love to talk about the actual context of the show 'The Carrie Diaries' and about all the different secrets and scandals going on I thought I would do a post on the fashion. It is set in 1984 so it has a tremendous amount of fashion from that era. I love the girly style that Carrie has, she wears many different colours and prints together. As shown in the bottom left corner were she matches polka dot black tights (which has definitely inspired me to try different patterned tights - I love wearing them as it makes an outfit more exciting) with a skater skirt with smaller dots on with a bright pink cardi, it just works. The 'Carrie' bag that was featured is just pure genius, it sums up the bright colours of the eighties in one bag! Personally I have taken inspiration from Carrie's sister, Dorrit. She wears mostly dark colours ranging from black to camouflage grey (not really a range!) but matches amazing band T-shirt's with dark leggings and a lot of black eyeliner! A lot of the clothes that the two actress' wear is from shops like H&M and Topshop! Personally I love the different style the two sister's have and the fact that they are styled with high-street clothes!

Cities in the Country

Wearing: Top - Zara. Leggings - Urban Outfitters. Socks and Hat - Topshop. Boots - New Look.
I woke up this morning to the sun bursting through my deep red curtains. It was lovely, my morning consisted of reading in bed under a mass of blankets for an hour and then slowly getting up and then taking these photo's in the sunlight. It was a beautiful morning to take these photos as the sun was beaming and we decided to venture down the village a bit more to see where we could take the photos. I ended up sitting on a tree trunk and on a stile with fields and sheep roaming behind me.  I got this beanie and top on Sunday during a wonderful stay in Brighton with my sister and cousin. I've seen beanies around a lot recently and wondered if I could pull one off, I'm still not too sure but you never know unless you try, right? I also realised that I'm wearing two different cities in America; LA and New York which both, I desperately want to go to! I love half term purely because it gives me a chance to get up-to-date on posts and check up on everything!

Tough Love

Wearing: Jumper - Republic. Shorts - New Look. Shoes - Schuh.
It's weird, in some ways I cannot wait to grow up and be an adult, to be out of school and chasing my dreams etc etc...But today we threw away a lot of my 'childhood' stuff. Literally I felt like a part of me was being thrown out and my heart being torn apart. Okay, yeah that's a bit dramatic but it was heartbreaking stuff! I put my hair in two French plaits last night and loved the outcome this morning, with the dark shorts and double studs (on the shoes and jumper) I felt a bit like 'Dorrit' - Carries younger sister from The Carrie Diaries. I love dark grungy clothes but feel that because I have blonde hair I can get away with a mass of black greys and charcoal. At least I don't go overboard on Black eyeliner. Yet.

February Blogger Interview - Isabella from Views of Now

So, after reading lots of different blogs and interacting with other bloggers I thought it would be a lovely idea to have a 'Blogger of the Month Interview' So for February I have got asked some questions to one of my favourite bloggers Isabella, From Views of Now.  Instead of me rattling on about her blog, go and check it out!

All Images from Views of Now

When did Fashion become a big thing in your life?
Fashion has always been something that I've enjoyed, but it's only recently that it's become such a big thing in my life. I'd say about a year into my blog I realised that I wanted a career in fashion, that this - blogging - was what I wanted to do.

I found your blog through your Teen Vogue Blogger feature online, How did that come about?
I joined the Fashion Click bloggers a few months ago, and shortly after I begun posting on that I was contacted by the people at Teen Vogue. I'd have to say it's one of my proudest and most exciting moments to date- Teen Vogue is basically what started my blog and love affair with all things wearable.

Who inspires your style? Would you say you get inspired by celebrities or bloggers more?
I would have to say I'm mainly inspired by bloggers, probably because I read them so often. As far as celebrities go, I adore Alexa Chung, the Fanning sisters, Olivia Palermo and Emma Watson, to name a few.

What are the top five blogs  that you read?
Such a tricky one! If I had to narrow it down...
Garry Pepper Vintage- her photos are like a fairytale.
Avenue M- Maria has fantastic style, and it also helps that she's one of my best friends.
Flashes of Style- I love reading about her New York adventures, and admiring her gorgeous vintage style.
Tuula Vintage- Gorgeous scenery.
WishWishWish- all around amazing blog!

In Australia it's summer at the moment, what different trends have you seen?
Some of my favourite Summer trends at the moment have to be overalls, jelly shoes, tropical prints and neon colours. It feels like I'm a little girl again!

What magazines are your favourite?
I read a ridiculous amount of magazines and, as you can probably guess, my favourite is Teen Vogue. But I also love Frankie, Shop Til You Drop, Harper's Bazaar and Australian Vogue.

Your outfit posts are spectacular, Who takes them?
Thank you! Generally my lovely Mum takes my photos, sometimes a friend and on very rare occasions my little sis.

What advice would you give to people in taking outfit photos?
Get out of your comfort zone! I stood in the same place in my backyard for so long, and it's so much more interesting when your locations are different and new. Also, be confident- don't get embarrassed if someone walks past. I know I still do, and it's a bad habit. Pretend they're not even there and do your thing.

Who are you favourite music artists at the moment?
It switches up all the time, but at the moment I'm loving Cub Scouts, San Cisco, The Weeknd, alt-J, SBTRKT and Two Door Cinema Club, to name a few!

Do you prefer Online shopping or actual shopping?
I love online shopping because everything is at your fingertips, you can do it in the comfort of your own home (and bed) and the prices can be amazing. Only problem is the wait!

So, I'd just like to say Thank You to Isabella for doing this interview and if anyone has any other ideas who to interview make sure you comment below!

Company - March Issue

I had a couple of outfits planned today to schedule some posts but, the weather once again stopped me! So I decided I would do a post on the lovely March issue of Company Magazine. When this came through my door I was pleasantly surprised as I only ordered my subscription a couple of weeks ago and they told me it would come between 6 and 9 weeks! It has such a bright front to the magazine, it then shows lots of new trends coming up in spring/summer which is getting me so excited for the new season. Especially as it was snowing here, and not even settling. My two favourite parts of this issue were the photoshoots. The 'Spring it On' photoshoot was a lovely way to go through the various trends this spring, they got me excited to try the 'varsity' 'stripes' and 'sixties' trends. Then the other photoshoot 'Get your Geek On' which showed the Varsity trend, its all just so prim and perfect!
The other thing that excited me about this issue is that my tweet was featured on the '#Readitandtweet' page! I wrote '@cstoreyy Reached by Ally Condie is the final book about the future. So captivating and Interesting!' I honestly would urge you to go and read this series about the struggle for freedom and love, the first one's called Matched.

Updated Instagram...

Instagram - www.instagram.com/christinastorey
So I thought, as I've been fairly lazy this weekend and not shot any outfit posts, I would do an 'Instagram Update' with you. I am literally obsessed with Instagram that its probably unhealthy! Recently I keep on getting distracted by scrolling through the 'Quotes' section on Pinterest and just feel so inspired, so I occasionally post these on my feed. I love this 'Beautiful Simple Things' as every thing on this list is definitely beautiful! My new phone case feels quite retro, not sure if that's the right word to use but anyhow I absolutely adore it. When finally this Teen Vogue came through my door I was delighted! I really think its one of the best issues in a while, it just has some great articles and photography in. I also really love the cover girl AnnaSophia Robb who is starring in the new show 'The Carrie Diaries' which has premiered in the states. I think she is just a really cool calm and collected girl who is going to be really big. Last night I celebrated my birthday with my friends from dancing and decided to wear this big black bow from Claires (Yes, Claires! I got a gift card for my birthday, It was very nostalgic) in my hair with it curled. I felt rather like Ariana Grande, I loved it! I definitely think I'm going to wear it more often.
P.S Do you like this dress I just ordered from Misguided? I can't wait to style it!

Attempted Monchrome

Wearing: Top - Zara. Short - New Look. Wellies - Next.
So I had planned to have this post as a 'Monochrome' theme post but I decided I didn't want to ruin my precious wedged trainers so I went for the wellies instead! I love this top, when I bought it there was only an Xtra Large, so on me it is more like a dress rather than a top but thats what high-waisted shorts are for. I had a lot of fun taking these photos, as you can probably tell. There are many photos of me trying to give a serious pose but just smiling instead. I spontaneously went in the middle of the road because, lets face it, no cars were driving along this country road!
This week I have been swamped with homework and dancing that I am fully ready for the weekend. Just one more day of school to power through! I literally am not too sure If I've ever been this excited to go shopping on Saturday. As I still have lots of birthday money which is just burning a hole in my pocket. I also finally got round to ordering my Company magazine subscription, Wohoo!

Recent Fashion Books

I got these two books for Christmas and my birthday and love them. They both are two different books showing two different bits of the fashion industry. The Style Feed goes through the most recent and popular bloggers. It shows the different style and layouts of each blog. It’s really interesting to read through the first blogs that have now influenced the fashion industry to grow through blogs. The different images they pick from the blogs shows the uniqueness of each one in just a couple of pictures. The Phaidon The Fashion Book is completely different to the Style Feed but in an intriguing way. It goes alphabetically through influential people in fashion. It has designers, models, photographers, Tailors and even Icons. It such an interesting book that I think anyone who is interested in fashion should read it!
As you can tell, I love books and obviously fashion, so when the two come together I always find it amazing. In my first picture you can see my stack building up and hopefully over time I can create a rather big collection to raise inspiration and knowledge from.

Bows Burgundy Biker

Wearing: Dress - H&M. Jacket - Republic. Tights - New Look. Shoes - Schuh.
These photo's were taken at the weekend when the snow was completely fresh. This is a dress I got from H&M for a great £14.99. It was my 'Christmas day' dress. I Love the detail of the bow and the lovely Burgundy colour. This leather biker jacket is literally my new love. It fits perfectly and has the right amount of detail on the shoulders and collar. I thought these tights made the outfit more exciting and contrasted to the block colour of the jacket. I have just been scrolling down Forever 21's website as I have birthday money which just wants to be spent on clothes and a company magazine subscription! I love these wedge's (I just wish it was summer so I can actually wear them) , these shorts and this lovely polka dot blouse!
On Monday night I actually was able to contribute to the #fbloggers chat. This take place every Monday and Thursday from 8-9 and has various topics which many bloggers contribute their opinions on and at the end share all our links, It's a great way to communicate with fellow bloggers and would urge you to get involved!

January Polyvore

So today was going to be a great day. Well after I had my RS GCSE in the afternoon. All my friends were going  come over, we would all get dressed up go to Pizza express all to celebrate my birthday. However, the snow had other ideas. Due to the heavy snow it was a trek into school for the exam but we had to cancel our plans. So instead of all that fun things I thought, as I neglected this blog all week because of revision I would do a good ol'd polyvore!
I love all of these clothes and  was quite surprised at myself that there was not that much black featured on the board! I love this grey t-shirt with leather shoulder pads and pocket from missguided, it would look perfect with a wet look skater skirt or some denim shorts and black boots. I love this Schrunchie! It reminds me of the ones gymnasts have to wear but scrunchies are coming back in and I'm very tempted to do my first DIY on a velvet scrunchy. As well as taking various outfit posts in the snow tomorrow I am thinking of shooting my first video, so keep an eye out on the blog for that!

What I got for my Birthday...

So as I write to you today I'm quite frustrated as I have got so many new clothes because of Christmas and my birthday and so many exciting outfit posts ideas bundling up in my mind and yet I have been unable to take them! I have been so busy recently as I am in the middle of mocks, it was my birthday on Friday and my Mums birthday party last night - Happy Birthday Mum and thank you for continuously taking the photo's for my blog, really appreciate it, Love you lots xxx -
Also the weather and just lots of different things have just stopped me taking outfit posts. I know, excuses excuses! So instead of some long awaited outfit posts I thought I would do a 'What I got for my birthday' post.
I was so happy with all my lovely presents for my birthday, they all went along the Monochrome colour scheme. This white blouse and black high-waisted shorts both from New Look and are just so beautiful. They are both two staple wardrobe pieces that are going to be so useful. This lovely Barry M 'Gold Mine Glitter' is a lovely mixture of black a gold sparkles, perfect! I was so delighted to receive the Gossip Girl season 5 DVD as as you can tell from my last post about Blair Waldorf's style, I love gossip girl! This amazing 'The Fashion Book' published by Phaidon is a book I always read about and I finally have it! It concludes of all different iconic people in the fashion industry from designers, photographers and stylists. And then, My Iphone5. I'm in love. Its so nice not to have a cracked Iphone anymore. I'm not sure if I have put it down since I've got it! Anyway hopefully by the weekend when this run of exams are over a couple of outfit posts will be coming your way. Keep following me on all media sites (especially instagram as since I've got my new phone, I'm obsessed even more!)
