3 reasons why Beautycon London was so inspiring

I feel so motivated. I want to do my best, I want to pour my heart into my blog and I want to feel proud of the content I have created.

I went to Beautycon over the weekend and it was amazing, I met so many great people and listened to some really interesting panels that I feel so inspired with my blog, and here's why -

1. Being surrounded by like-minded people.
My friends understand that I love blogging and the internet etc, and even my family get it - but I'm not sure they fully understand it. But, being at Beautycon felt like I was surrounded by people who truly understand the blogging/vlogging community. Yes, we could freak out that the bloggers that we watch and read everyday were right in front of us but we could also listen to what they were saying during the panels and learn from it. When I asked the not so simple question of 'Twitter or Instagram?' to Lily Pebbles, Anna from Viviannadoesmakeup, Lucy and Lydia and Sammi from the Beauty Crush they all reacted in a way that I would - completely stuck but decided on Instagram because of the visual elements and creativity. It was just amazing to be surrounded by people like that, and reminded me why going to events isn't scary, but fun!

2. Making a career out of a hobby.
Now when I started this blog, I wanted to be a journalist. And, part of me still does, but another part of me wonders if I could make a career out of this blog. Obviously this blog doesn't have a wide readership and is just a hobby and will be of the next three years but a tiny niggle in the back of my brain says, if these women did it, why can't I? Reading people like Suzie from Hello October and Zoe from ZoeLondon blog's everyday, then meeting them in person just made it clearer to me that these women are normal human beings who have worked incredibly hard to be where they are today! And seeing that has motivated me to try my best and make this blog the best it can be!

3. Everyone is unique.
The blogging world is huge, there is no denying that, and quite often it feels like your just the same as everybody else and cannot come up with original content. But, from listening to the panels I started to understand something - everyone is different. Everyone approaches their content differently, everyone is better at a specific part of a blog whether it be the writing, the photographing or the promoting, and it doesn't matter that the blogging world is so big. It was tempting to think that at Beautycon there was just multiple people who are exactly like me - but, yes, they're similar - but no-one can blog the same. Everyone runs their blog for a different reason, everyone has different aims for running their blog, everyone is different but everyone loves blogging and that's the thing that connects us all!

After a crazy busy weekend I am stuck revising and preparing for a big dance competition at the end of the week so make sure to follow me on twitter and instagram to keep up with my random daily thoughts and please, keep me entertained!

We never go out of Style

Skirt - Topshop. Top - M&S (just hear me out...) Jacket and Shoes - New Look.
One thing that people often say when asked who their style icon is, is their mum. I never really thought of my mum as a 'style icon' or anything, she just always wore nice clothes and that was that. But recently, with a specific style coming back around I've realised that in reality my mum and I actually have a very similar style,  meaning that some time in my life, she must have inspired me! Over Christmas one of my aunts said jokingly that all my mum wears is black - and I always joke around with my friends how all we wear is black (a little bit of white!) Alos last November when my mum and I went out we both were wearing grey clothes with some kind of roll-neck, and since we both have short blonde hair ( much to my dad's dismay) we look even more alike!
I've even gone as far in this outfit as wearing her clothes! This roll-neck is hers, I've been lusting after one for ages and hadn't managed to buy one and then when I bought this A-line black denim skirt from Topshop the other week, I knew a fitted grey roll-neck top would be perfect with it. My mum always wears roll-necks under pinafores or chunky knit roll-neck jumpers with jeans - I remember when I was little not liking them because I felt like they were choking me! But after all these years, I suppose she has inspired me - Thanks Mum! (Or Mummy as even though I'm an 18 year-old, I'll never not call her mummy...)
Anyway, I better go and start school for today, I've had two coffee's before it was even 8 o'clock, so I'm sure I'll be crashing in a few hours, Hope you week is going well!

Could be jogging, but I'd rather be blogging...

Jumper - Aeropostale. Jeans - Topshop. Necklace - Thomas Sabo.

Hello, Nice to see you there, it's been a while hasn't it? I'd thought I'd let you know what I'm doing when I'd rather be blogging... (Plot twist: I haven't been jogging)

 - Doing Photography work (my deadline for the coursework part of it was last Friday which was super stressful but somehow the fact that Vicky and Ella were in the same situation and we could laugh it off made it tons better, the cake also definitely helped.)

- Doing English coursework (My deadline for my whole coursework unit is next Friday and although I've nearly finished 2/3 of it, I've still got a heck of a lot more to go!)

- Writing History notes, guess what for? coursework! (Yup, more coursework - this one is just getting started so it's the blank page that is the daunting part)

- Spending every night this week at dancing (however much I love dancing I've been there every night this week and last and it's just sometimes a bit too much, especially as half the time I'm not actually dancing as I am teaching others my parts as there is a competition this half but I am away! So can't really complain about to be honest)

So yeah, There are my excuses to why I've been absent from the blog recently! Although I've tried to be a bit more pro-active with my twitter so be sure to follow me on there to keep up with my daily musings in life. The next couple of weeks seem super super exciting but super super busy - I've got three parties coming up (one of which is Bryony and I's joint 18th!) and a week on Sunday I am going on a ski trip with school! Which I am so so excited about, I had my first ski lesson last Sunday and it was interesting....hopefully I'll get the hang of it soon. It's just going to be a great week with my best friends creating memories!
The most recent issue of Ink (my school magazine in which I'm editor-in-chief of) came out a couple of weeks ago -I wrote two articles, one on Shakespeare and one on Taylor Swift - I'd love it if you would go and check them out and have a browse through the magazine!

Living in the Present or Contemplating the Future?

My life at the moment revolves around exams, school and preparing for university...

The past few weeks I've realised that i have been dropping in the topics related with Uni into everyday conversation. Like the fact I cannot wait to decorate my room there, like the fact it will be weird going out with new people and not any of my school friends, like the fact that I will be somewhere completely different. I will leave school in 5 months time. That in itself is very freaky, school is something that is always a constant in everyone's children years. We attend it since we were so young that you cannot remember anything different in your life. I like routine, and I like the fact that I have a specific routine very week that I rarely shy away from. My friends at school know me as being the organised one who likes to plan ahead and know what we are doing. Uni won't be like that, Uni will be full of spontaneous conversations, a bunch of new people and a lot of 'going with the flow,' it will be fun and exciting and full of new things however the prospect of leaving this small village, my school and my dance school; all things which I've known forever, is very daunting. But it's very exciting at the same time. It is bittersweet.
In a way when I write this I realise that I need to focus on the present and put the future in the back of my mind. I need to enjoy this last five months of school (not matter how much stress they bring!) as, they are my last! I should just embrace the whole school atmosphere, embrace the vast array of people in my year, and embrace the opportunities I have to learn and grow at school. Right now I need to be doing my photography work but I had a sudden spurt of inspiration to write this post - I may or may not have just finished Girl Online by Zoella/ Siobhan Curham (awkward...) and been inspired by the blog and general fuzziness that the end brings!
Just to say, I think for the next few months I may have to turn this blog into a 'once a week' type thing, which does irritate me a bit but school comes first etc etc, I also am going to leave you with my favourite quotes/photo's I find from the week or in general life...

18 Candles

Dress - American Eagle. Shoes - New Look.

Yesterday was perfect. I'm going to continue replaying every little detail of the day in my head forever. I spent my 18th birthday with everyone in the world that I love. My family, my family friends I've known since I was little, my friends from dancing, my friends from school and everyone in between. I felt so loved it was amazing and seeing everyone there together, I could not stop smiling!
Whilst searching for a New Years Eve outfit in late December I came across this dress in American Eagle and instantly knew it was perfect for my birthday. The swing style, the stripes and the price felt like it was made for me. I was already picturing my make-up - gold eyes, winged eyeliner and red lips! I'm sure this dress will be worn many many times.Anyway, even though I'm now officially an adult, that doesn't stop school from happening so as I type this in my Monday morning free, I hope you all have a fab week! I'm sure I will as I continue replaying yesterday over and over again.

London Days

Wearing - Blouse - Asos. Pinafore - New Look. Tights - Primark. Socks - Forever 21. Boots - Office.
So yesterday I travelled to London to meet with my 'bloggy friend' Jordan. I've met Jordan a couple of times now at different events and we wanted to have a girly day shopping along Oxford Street. We started off trying to navigate ourselves around Topshop, there were so many amazing clothes that it is so easy to get lost in their. It almost feels like getting lost in a jungle! I've got a personal shopping experience (my Christmas present!) coming up so I was hesitant to buy anything and thought I should wait for that. Although I did find this lovely black and white striped baggy crop top with I was very tempted to purchase. Jordan got some gorgeous 'mom' jeans. I really like the look of those jeans and think Jordan will pull them off amazingly, however I think they would look a bit of a fail on me! On our way out of Topshop we saw the 'Topshop goes virtual catwalk.'  I had read about this and didn't realise it was open for people to try out for a few days. Basically we sat in the shop window, put on these ski glasses type things and headphones. You then felt like you were actually at the Topshop Unique fashion show AW/14 you could see the models walk straight in front of you, see different scenes backstage and hear the music playing. It was a great experience and something that was so random but cool to do.
We then met up with Islay and Carissa for lunch which was lovely. It was great to be able to have a quick catch-up and laugh with them before they went off to different events. Jordan and I then explored some more shops and spent a while in Boots. I wanted to make the most of her 'beauty vlogger' expertise and ended up purchasing a new eyeliner (Loreal super liner) and 'Pillow Talk' Topshop Lipstick. It was a lovely day catching up with Jordan whilst sharing a few laughs. One of the great things about blogging that I really love is meeting and making new friends; We've even got a plan to have a road trip once I can drive!

I'm going to ramble on a bit about this outfit just to make this post even longer...!
I have wanted a cream/white blouse for absolutely ages. It just seems like such a timeless piece that can be styled in so many different ways. So when I saw it on Asos in stock and in my size I immediately ordered it. The detailing around the collar is just so whimsical. I always go a bit 'all-out' with my outfit when I go to London for the day so I thought I would pair my patterned tights with high socks just to add a bit of a girly touch. I really loved the vibe this outfit created and think I'll be wearing this blouse lots more.
Anyway, I'll stop rambling now and will be back with possibly a wishlist soon!

Country Lovin'

Wearing: Top - Forever 21. Shorts + Bandeau - New look.
I cannot believe I'm actually in England. It is so warm! I sunbathed earlier and wasn't cold or anything, I'm even hoping I got a slight tan! I love this outfit. The shorts and just so cute and girly, a great purchase from the end of last summer. Then this top from Forever 21 is just so useful, it goes with anything. Then the detail on the back adds a little extra. It can be dressed up with a skirt, or thrown over a bikini or wore casual like this with shorts, its so versatile!
I'm very excited for tomorrow because not only is it going incredibly warm and sunny I am going to relax in a park in London and soak up the london summer atmosphere, then go to Pizza Express and watch a dance show of my friend. It sounds like a perfect day!
I'm trying to get more organised with my blog recently (I've even got a notebook!) and hope to post on regular days and even post a video to my youtube every week or so. So make sure your subscribed and following all my media accounts to keep up to date!

P.S How Beautiful is this setting?

#LDNBloggersparty

On Saturday morning I ventured down to London for the #LDNBloggersparty with butterflies in my stomach.  It was my first blogging event and first time meeting up with any fellow bloggers which i meant I was super nervous but also extremely excited. I met up with Ellie, Islay and Amy beforehand to do some browsing along Oxford Street and have a proper bloggy experience, have cupcakes! Although the actual cupcakes and service was a bit disappointing we managed to stay there for an hour just chatting about blog things!
We then went on to the event which had a sudden change of venue an hour or so before but luckily we had Islay and her trusty Iphone map to guide us there! The event itself was very surreal but so lovely. As soon as we got there we queued up to get cocktails (although for me it was just water!) and started mingling. I met some lovely bloggers such as Amy (another one!) Libby, Victoria. After the event we were very hungry and eager to look at our amazing goody bags so went to Ed's 'easy' Diner and enjoyed a delicious burger.  The day couldn't of gone down without a few mishaps such as Ellie spilling her cocktail down her shirt, me almost getting on the wrong tube and almost getting stuck in the crowd for the Gay pride!
It was an amazing first blogger event, thank you Scarlett for organising it!
(I started the day taking a few photo's and videos but once I got into the event I got distracted so I apologise for the lack of photo's but check out Islay's vlog and Amy's vlog down below.)

Floral Feels

Dress - Topshop.Shoes - New Look.

Hold up, Christina's blogging on a Monday...Morning?! This rarely happens so y'all better be grateful. But seriously these photo's were taken a while ago and were snapped very quickly so I don't think they capture the beauty of this dress. Although Topshop is all the rage I rarely buy anything from it just because its normally pretty expensive etc but when this dress caught my eye whilst shopping in Brighton I had to try it on. It is the perfect summer dress. It fits well, has a good length and the mixture of lace on the bodice compared to the flowers is just perfect. I decided to keep the styling of this dress simple in attempt to capture the simple element of this dress.
I've got a range of different posts coming up in the next couple of weeks to try and convey myself and personality to my lovely readers a bit more. As well as my first blogging event on Saturday which I am extremely excited/nervous/excited about, I still haven't decided what to wear!

Spring into Summer

Wearing: Shorts- Forever 21. Jumper - Republic. Shoes - New Look. Sunglasses - Accessorize.
I cannot wait for the summer nights. Where it's a bit chilly but still warm enough to be in shorts and you can just stay outside talking, laughing or just being silly dancing as my sister and I probably would until late evening. When the next day seems miles away. Where you don't have anything planned for the next day but you're excited because you know that you've got a whole summer ahead of care-free days.
Anyway, I still have two more weeks until that's me, everyone's counting down how many exams they have left '...2,4,3' and then there's me along with other people who chose to do Latin with 6 left. I have two massive set texts I need to know off by heart for that exam. But lets not dwell on that because...WE HAVE SUN. It was so lovely to revise whilst lounging on the trampoline and attempting to get a tan (and not burn like I did yesterday!)
I was very excited to style these shorts from Forever 21 as they are just so cute and girly and a gorgeous coral colour which I decided to dim down with this jumper from Republic that I got a couple of years a go. This outfit was so comfy and convenient for the weather, I was a big fan!
I'm quite hyper as I write this, not too sure why but oh well, you got a lot of writing for once!

Are you excited for late summer evenings? How would you style these shorts?
